Meet the Creator

Hi, I'm Krisha Hidalgo

I attend college at the University of California, San Diego, as a fourth year undergraduate student, finishing my Bachelors of Science in Human Biology.

Upon entering UC San Diego, I immediately recognized my passion for medicine and public health. I decided to get involved in organizations that were dedicated to the health sciences. As a pre-medical student at a biomedical research institution, I struggled to sift through the inundation of resources that UC San Diego had to offer. Because I felt that each group’s information was inaccessible and inefficient, choosing the right organization was difficult and overwhelming.

As the creator of this website, I aspire to design an easily accessible platform used to better inform UC San Diego students on the pre-health groups and organizations available to them.  This website allows students to clearly understand what each group stands for and to decide on which is their best fit. Additionally, it will enable students to efficiently reach out to the organizations in order to get themselves involved.

Joining a pre-health group has presented me with a multitude of leadership and networking opportunities, which were crucial in my undergraduate career. Since 2013, I have been an active member for a number of student organizations. I served as historian, board member, and mentor for UCSD's only pre-medical and co-educational fraternity, Phi Delta Epsilon. Upon networking, I was able to land a clinical volunteer position at Rady's Children's Hospital in San Diego, CA. In addition, I serve as the Operations chair for Dance Marathon, a non-profit organization that raises money for children's hospitals and pediatric research. Today, I am currently working as a medical simulation specialist at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. I have been heavily involved in the coordination of multidisciplinary medical education courses, working closely with physicians and clinical professors. I am engaged in a project with the UCSD School of Medicine’s Medical Director, Preetham Suresh, MD, to establish a program that connects pre-health students to UCSD medical faculty. This program will allow pre-health students to assist clinical professors in medical curriculum.

Finding the right organization can allow these students to evaluate why they want to become healthcare providers.  My involvement in student organizations helped me in my undergraduate career to find my calling. In designing this website for undergraduate students to connect to pre-health organizations, I hope to foster leadership, volunteering and professional experiences that will ultimately lead pre-health students to have a deeper understanding of the health field.
